OUTNUMBERED British soldiers killed 35 Iraqi attackers in the Army’s first bayonet charge since the Falklands War 22 years ago.

The fearless Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders stormed rebel positions after being ambushed and pinned down.

Despite being outnumbered five to one, they suffered only three minor wounds in the hand-to-hand fighting near the city of Amara.

The battle erupted after Land Rovers carrying 20 Argylls came under attack on a highway.

After radioing for back-up, they fixed bayonets and charged at 100 rebels using tactics learned in drills.

When the fighting ended bodies lay all over the highway — and more were floating in a nearby river. Nine rebels were captured.

An Army spokesman said: “This was an intense engagement.”

The last bayonet charge was by the Scots Guards and the Paras against Argentinian positions.

...."stormed rebel positions after being ambushed and pinned down"...

...."outnumbered five to one, they suffered only three minor wounds"....

Did the Brits forget to bring ammo along just in case they might fight a war?

Did the Iraqi rebels, with a five to one advantage, ambush the Brits with dirt clods?

Last time I saw something that read like this, it was like during one of the Rambo movies where Stallone ran through a compound and killed 8 or 9 guys firing at him with machine guns....then did the same thing in the jungle...then did the same thing catching a chopper outta there....

Final Score: Rambo 341, Opponents 0.

Details are still to come...I'm sure the Brits are a bit worried that the appeasers are going to claim "war crime" if they find out the fight wasn't fair.

knowing the brits were involved - and seeing pix of most iraqis - we know the fight wasn't over a toothbrush and toothpaste.

as a matter of fact - they probably fought with the contention the losers had to brush their teeth - which is why the fighting was so heavy. neither side wanted to face such a "terrible punishment"
